Cal C. Mitchell, C.E.O.

Cal brings over 25 years of experience in the areas of Business Development, Strategic Partnerships, Investor Relations, Sales and Marketing. Prior to joining Conversay in 1999, Cal was Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Videodiscovery, an educational software company specializing in the applied sciences. In addition to forming the Private Banking Division at Chase Manhattan Bank, where he held the position of Vice President, he was responsible for corporate and small business accounts in the regional offices of the United States and British Virgin Islands. Prior to that Cal was an international Marketing Manager for E & J Gallo Winery, where he was responsible for Europe, Asia and Canada territories.

Cal holds a double BA degree from the University of Washington in Business and Communications. 


Peyvand M. Khademi, Ph.D., MBA, President, C.O.O.

Peyvand is one of the original “attic guys” who has been with Conversay since 1997. He led the effort in the design and implementation of the first conversational applications for desktop, web-based, server and embedded platforms, was also involved in the development of Conversay's industry-leading Conversation Development Tools. As Director of Consulting for Conversay Professional Services, he guided the demonstration creation effort and presided over customer solution implementations. As Director of Technology Support, he directed all technology presentation activities and managed the Solutions Architecture effort. More recently as V.P. of Engineering, Peyvand’s responsibilities have expanded to include overseeing program management of all engineering projects, outsourced projects and our major enterprise accounts.

Peyvand received his BS in Computer Science from the University of Florida in 1985 and his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Southern California in 1996, in the area of Computational Neuroscience. His thesis addressed simulation and modeling of cerebellar networks implicated in classical conditioning. He earned his MBA from the University of Washington in 1986.

Prior to joining Conversay, he held a post doc position at Argonne National Lab’s Math and Computer Science Department, where his work on computational differentiation of sparse matrices led to the 1995 Wilkinson Prize for Numerical Software. 


Aravind Ganapathiraju, Ph.D., Executive Vice President, Core Technology

Aravind has been working on various aspects of speech recognition technology for the past 8 years. Since joining Conversay he has helped transform Conversay technology to a state-of-the-art level in terms of noise robustness and other vital features that make Conversay products perform exceptionally well in real-world situations. Aravind currently heads the core technology team focused on developing next-generation speech recognition and human-computer interaction techniques.

Aravind’s research interests primarily include providing technology for limited-resource platforms using statistical techniques, signal processing, pattern recognition and cognitive science. He is a member of the IEEE and a reviewer for journals in the signal processing area.

He received his MS and Ph.D. degrees from Mississippi State University. 


Mike O’Neil, MBA, Vice President, Accounting and Finance

Mike has more than 20 years of finance and accounting experience, and served as a Conversay financial consultant since early 2005.  Previously, Mike was Chief Financial Officer of Service Communications, a national technology & communications company, and of Helly Hansen (US), the international outerwear manufacturer.

Mike’s previous experience was international: he was Vice President of Finance for 7 years with Kingston Holding, developer of golf courses, constructed and managed mall complexes, and an operator of a Safeway franchise.  Mike supervised financial reporting, oversaw reporting revenues of 150 million dollars and assets of over a billion dollars.  Previous to that he was Vice President of Finance for Calvo Enterprises - Guam, for 12 years; a commercial real estate development company, owned hotel properties, the Hilton and Okura hotels, the Phillip Morris distributor in the Pacific region, the Pepsi franchise for the Pacific, and the AIG insurance agency for Micronesia and Guam.
 
Mike holds a BBA, Accounting degree from Seattle University and received his MBA in Accounting and Finance from California Coast University.
