Conversation Forms Automation (CFA) - The Inspection Automation Solution

CFA is a suite of applications that reduces the cost of inspections performed by inspection personnel. It does this by enabling inspectors to use industry accepted mobile computers to collect inspection data rather than paper-based forms. Further savings are generated by using human speech to free the inspector's hands and eyes to perform tasks other than data entry. CFA forms can be accessed, quieried and completed remotely using human speech. With CFA, speech can be used side-by-side with standard tactile interfaces like buttons, keys and styluses.

Key features:

Hands-free processing: The CFP is entirely voice-enabled. All functions (except for settings) can be operated by voice. This includes global commands (e.g., “Save Form”, “Exit Program”, “Conversation Go to Sleep”), as well as data entry. An alternative tactile complement to hands-free processing (i.e., data entry via keyboard, mouse or stylus) is operable at all times.

Eyes-free processing: The CFP is designed to work as a “blind conversation”. This is achieved in two ways: First, the speech engine (Conversay HQ-TTS: Human Quality Text-to-Speech) prompts the user by reading the label of each form element. When an entry is spoken, HQ-TTS repeats it to promote accuracy.  Second, if the user loses his or her place, CFP can be queried by asking “What can I say?” The operator can thereby complete the form without referring to a screen, which is often a key productivity requirement in mobile work environments.

Project Management: Many business processes use series of related forms and share data and business logic across them, analogous to worksheets within an Excel file. CFP enables the creation of “projects” comprising a number of forms. CFP also permits retention of project data for future recall and/or edit purposes – for example, a review of plan inspection data at a certain future date.

Runtime Management: Both Win32 and Win32 Mobile versions of CFP are self-contained and handle functions such as grammar and microphone management. CFP is a fully voice-functional application, whether running on a Win32 machine or a mobile WM5 device.
